Red Drizzle Gladioli is a heartfelt tribute to the quiet beauty and elegance found in nature and the amazing contradictions of organic forms. The sturdy and wide stems of the gladioli are in sharp contrast to the tender, delicate petals of the flowers. This oil on canvas showcases a floral still life capturing the gentle femininity of gladiolas in natural daylight. The oil was applied with a palette knife, adding depth and texture, whilst the pastel shades aim to highlight the delicate translucency of the flowers, imparting an ethereal, almost otherworldly light to the painting. ‘Flowers and nature have always been profound sources of inspiration for me and this piece features blooms from my West Sussex garden.’
