A celebration of joy, freedom and lightness, Sunflowers with Blue Butterflies, 2023 is a piece from the Sunflower series, capturing the heart, strength and resilience of the people of Ukraine. Butterflies in all their delicate fragility, inspire us to embrace change and find beauty in life’s transient nature, representing hope, joy and positive change. The beautiful blue butterflies fluttering from flower to flower symbolise hope and rebirth, and the vibrant hue is juxtaposed against the vivid yellow of the sunflowers to unite in the colours of the Ukrainian flag. This artwork was created in support of the Olena Pinchuk Foundation, aiming to raise awareness and funds for the Foundation’s ‘Mobile Clinics for HIV-positive Children’ project in Ukraine. This initiative provides critical medical care and support for those in need, reflecting the artwork’s themes of hope and resilience.
