Our Planet of Bees, 2024

Bees are essential to our ecosystem, and Mariya Dykalo and her family have kept Bee hives on their property and planted wildflowers in their garden to help protect them. This piece captures the artist’s love for flowers and the natural world, depicting the globe covered in vibrant cornflowers and surrounded by bumblebees, symbolising the importance of these hard-working little creatures to planet earth. Our Planet of Bees was originally created to celebrate World Bee Day, in support of South Downs National Trust Park and their Bee Line Charity, which aims to plant more meadows for bees and all our pollinators across the South Downs National Park, where Mariya Dykalo’s family home and garden are located in West Sussex.
